Class Descriptions

Embodied Yoga Flow

Embodied Yoga Flow is about being present in your body and having a healthy awareness of physical changes as you move through your practice.  This class allows you to practice embodiment through long held poses with intentional and guided breathing.  As you build a connection to mind and body, you will learn to trust it, listen to it and embrace it.

The class will include elements of breath practice, warm up, moving flow building toward some intentional practice objectives, cool down and Savasana.  Warm up will usually include dedicated core work to warm the body, preparing it for more movement.  Poses will be held longer (up to 5 breaths), so that students can explore alignment principles, practice self-reflection and make healing choices based on how they feel in their bodies!

Any BODY is welcome!

Modifications will be offered for all levels of experience.

Qigong - Energy Movement. (pronounced chee gung).

Release tension, soothe your mind and tap into your internal energy and power with the centuries-old practice of Qigong. Qi is defined as “Life Force Energy”, Gong defined as “skill” cultivated through steady practice.

Qigong can be described as a mind-body-spirit movement practice that may improve one's mental and physical health by integrating posture, breathing technique, self-massage, sound and focused intent. The movements are typically slow and gentle, and many can be done standing or seated. You will be introduced to the 5 Elements of TCM, (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and how we are connected to the energy that surrounds us, the seasons, and all living things.

With continued practice we aim to develop the ability to manipulate energy in order to promote self-healing, prevent disease and increase longevity.

Classes will range between 30 and 60 minutes and recommended for all levels of fitness.

Slow Flow

This is a slow, gentle practice, perfect for all levels. We will mix up styles and move from floor to standing positions, utilizing props, blocks, bolsters, and blankets to assist us in and out of postures. Exploring mindful movement and breath will improve overall strength and flexibility while calming the mind, and bring awareness to the present. Rest your mind and restore balance, while feeling energized and refreshed.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Flow

This class is recommended for students with some yoga experience. We link yoga asanas/postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using the breath. This class helps build strength, flexibility, and concentration while calming the mind.

Gentle Evening Flow

This Gentle Flow Yoga is geared specifically for those new to yoga or those who are interested in a gentle practice. This class incorporates simple flowing sequences to warm up the body, as well as slower paced movements focusing on alignment, strength, balance, and flexibility.  Modifications will always be offered for more advanced practitioners.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga is a creative and dynamic form of yoga that uses various breathing techniques while incorporating movement, mantras, and meditation.  We move through sequences called “Kriyas” where intentions are used throughout each sequence.  Singing or Mantras may be included during the sequence to increase energy in the body and balance the nervous system.  Classes and specific Kriyas may be  repeated for several weeks prior to moving to another Kriya or sequence.   Modifications will be offered throughout the various poses making this perfect for all levels of experience.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which slows the heart rate, regulates blood pressure, and relaxes the body. It is considered particularly beneficial for those suffering from anxiety, insomnia, or headaches, as well as other stress-related conditions. This type of yoga is also believed to boost the immune system and accelerate the body’s natural healing process. This class is designed for all levels of yoga practice.  The classes are relaxing and slow paced, with a whole class using as few as five or six postures which are held for long periods of time. Props are used often to allow the body to be in the most comfortable, supported position possible. This may include bolsters, blankets, blocks, and belts. Gentle music may be played, and the practice may be combined with guided meditation.

Vin DAO Yin Yoga

This class will begin with a flow, Yang (muscular) movement, through various sun salutations, energy flows and balancing postures.  In the second half of the class we will come down to the floor creating Yang flow first then passive stretches, which will be held for about 1 - 2 minutes, targeting the connective tissues and stimulating joint lubrication. You will leave feeling balanced mentally and physically.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body – the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for three to five minutes, sometimes longer. This a perfect class for beginners and all levels of practice.

Yoga For Flexibility and Strength

A blend of yin and yang asanas will balance relaxation and energy flow. Longer holds will target the connective tissues and ligaments. Muscle work will focus on both lengthening and strengthening. If you experience high intensity at work, home or play this practice will quiet your mind and relax your body. Enjoy overall improved flexibility and strength. Breath will enhance a deep state of relaxation in the body and mind. Appropriate for all levels.

Gentle Explorative Yoga

Whether new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, you will find an opportunity for growth and challenge in this practice.

We will begin class with a gentle flow as we warm the physical body.  We’ll focus on connecting breath (pranayama) with present moment awareness to create union of body, mind and heart.

Periodic holds will help us build strength as we explore proper asana (poses) alignments.
